Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Facebook Live videos are all the rage right now. They’re an excellent way to¬†improve your online traction, boost your brand¬†and increase your followers. But, as with many aspects of social media marketing, the success of any Facebook Live videos you make will depend on how well you prepare beforehand.

Here are five tips to help you get the very most out of your Facebook Live videos:

1. Promote your video

While your Facebook Live video will inevitably get some viewers tuning in as it’s being aired, nothing beats drumming up a bit of interest beforehand. That’s why you should try and promote the fact you’ll be live on Facebook ahead of time. Post relevant updates on your business page, maybe even create an event, to let your followers know you’ll be live.

2. Check your Internet connection

Facebook Live works best when you’ve got a fast, uninterrupted Internet connection. Anything less and you might find that your video lags for some viewers, and that could lead to them switching off.

3. Check your lighting

It’s no good making a Facebook Live video if your viewers can’t see you and lighting plays a huge part in that, especially if you’re using a mobile device. Make sure there’s adequate light behind the camera so that people can see your face clearly.

4. Check your battery

Facebook Live also consumes quite a lot of your device’s battery, so don’t start doing a broadcast unless you have plenty of juice. Having your phone or tablet die in the middle of a video is the last thing you want to happen.

5. Switch your device to do not disturb

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if you received a text message or phone call during your Facebook Live video, but obviously it’s better if you don’t. Simply put your phone or tablet into do not disturb mode for distraction-free Facebook Live videoing.
