During your Facebook travels, you’ll have undoubtedly encountered Canvas ads – even if you didn’t realise it at the time.
Canvas ads allow people to combine video, still images and call-to-action buttons in a single, interactive format to make adverts that are hard to ignore.
Despite only being launched just four months ago, Canvas ads have seen more than one hundred years’ worth of video watched via them already, Facebook says. It’s a reality that has no doubt been boosted by the fact that huge American brands, such as Target, Netflix and Wendy’s have all embraced the Canvas ads format since its inception.
We all know that the best Facebook ads seek to engage their intended audiences, and that’s exactly why Canvas ads are so powerful. The fact that they are also designed for mobile, making them load up to 10 times faster, is also a huge benefit.
Perhaps the most exciting part is that even though Canvas ads can incorporate photos, videos and much more, they can be created in less than 10 minutes.
Creative firms have even come up with extremely interactive Canvas ads, which feature choose-your-own-adventure-type stories linked together and simple games designed to get people to spend more time interacting with them.
The bottom line is that Facebook Canvas ads are a serious force to be reckoned with. Not only do they appeal to the social network’s users, but they also provide brands with a way to serve up engaging content on both desktop and mobile platforms.
If you want to find out more about the technologies behind Canvas ads, this recent Facebook blog post goes into quite a lot of depth.
